Established MEP expertise. Applied to critical data-center infrastructure.

01Why this vertical

Built on proven MEP expertise.
Focused on critical infrastructure.

Our data-center offering is built on established expertise in critical HVAC, electrical, fire protection and utility infrastructure, adapted specifically to the reliability, redundancy and operational requirements of modern data centers.

A data center is a mission-critical facility where cooling, power, fire protection and utilities must operate continuously and reliably. Those systems — heat rejection, power distribution, standby generation, suppression, utility distribution, and the testing that proves all of it performs — are the systems VPSTEC already engineers, installs and commissions. What a data center changes is not the discipline but the standard of continuity it is held to, and the coordination required to meet it.

Monitoring and control systems — BMS, EPMS and DCIM — are integrated in coordination with the project’s specialist vendors.

What a data center depends on

02Data center MEP capabilities

The scope we execute

Five capability groups, each one an extension of a discipline already in our capability register rather than a new claim.

01

Critical Cooling & HVAC

Heat rejection is the load that never stops in a data hall. We install and commission the water-side and air-side infrastructure that carries it away.

Built on HVAC & Cooling Systems.

Coordination with specialist vendors for high-density and liquid-cooling applications.

  • Chiller systems
  • Chilled-water systems
  • Cooling towers
  • Chilled-water pumping
  • Precision cooling infrastructure
  • CRAC / CRAH infrastructure
  • Air distribution
  • Cooling water piping
  • HVAC installation
  • Testing & commissioning
02

Critical Electrical Infrastructure

Power from the incomer to the distribution board, including the standby path that has to pick the load up without the hall noticing.

Built on Electrical Infrastructure.

Electrical infrastructure coordinated with UPS, ATS/STS, DG and other critical-power systems — including redundant A/B distribution arrangements — in accordance with the approved project design and specialist vendor requirements.

  • HT / LT electrical infrastructure
  • Transformers
  • LT panels
  • Distribution boards
  • Bus ducts
  • Critical power distribution
  • DG infrastructure
  • Earthing
  • Lightning protection
  • Electrical installation
  • Testing & commissioning
03

Fire Protection & Life Safety

Hydrant, sprinkler and pumping infrastructure, and the installed groundwork that detection and alarm systems terminate into.

Built on Fire Protection Systems.

Coordination with specialist fire-detection, aspirating and early-smoke-detection, pre-action and clean-agent system vendors where required by the project, including dedicated protection to electrical rooms.

  • Fire hydrant systems
  • Fire sprinkler systems
  • Fire pumps
  • Fire water piping
  • Fire detection interface
  • Fire alarm infrastructure
  • Fire protection installation
  • Testing & commissioning
04

Mechanical & Utility Infrastructure

The distribution that connects plant to load — pumped, piped, supported and tied in to equipment on both ends.

Built on Industrial Piping Systems.

  • Chilled-water piping
  • Cooling water piping
  • Utility piping
  • Pumping systems
  • Mechanical equipment installation
  • Equipment connections & tie-ins
  • Testing & commissioning
05

Engineering & Project Execution

The coordination layer. On a live data-center programme this is usually what determines whether the other four land on schedule.

Built on Machines & Utilities Installation.

Testing and commissioning of our MEP systems coordinated with the client, consultant, EPC contractor and specialist vendors as part of the project’s wider commissioning programme.

  • Engineering coordination
  • MEP installation
  • Site execution
  • Testing
  • Commissioning
  • Integrated testing & commissioning coordination
  • Coordination with other contractors
  • Project documentation
03What makes it different

Engineered for reliability.
Executed for continuity.

These are the requirements a data-center MEP scope is held to. We execute around them in coordination with clients, consultants, OEMs and specialist partners where the scope calls for it.

  • 01

    High availability

Infrastructure sized and installed so that planned work on one path does not take the facility down.

  • 02

    Redundancy & resilience

Redundant plant, distribution and pumping arrangements executed and tested in accordance with the approved project design — N, N+1, 2N or a project-specific configuration.

  • 03

    Critical power distribution

HT/LT distribution, bus ducts, panels and the standby generation path, executed as one coordinated electrical scope.

  • 04

    Cooling redundancy

Chilled water circuits and air-side distribution arranged so capacity survives the loss of a single unit or circuit.

  • 05

    Maintainability

Access, isolation and valving planned at installation, because a facility that cannot be maintained safely is one that gets taken offline to be maintained at all.

  • 06

    Fire and life safety

Detection, suppression and hydrant infrastructure installed to the applicable national and project-specific requirements.

  • 07

    Operational continuity

Sequencing and phasing planned so work in an operating facility does not interrupt the load it supports.

  • 08

    Testing and commissioning

Systems proven under test before handover, with documentation that records what was proven and how.

  • 09

    Integrated MEP coordination

Mechanical, electrical and fire scopes coordinated against one another before installation rather than reconciled on site afterwards.

04Delivery approach

Our data center delivery approach

The same continuous line of responsibility we run on an industrial contract, applied to a data-center MEP scope.

  1. 01

    Requirement Understanding

Facility intent, load, redundancy expectation and the boundary of our scope within the wider programme, established before anything is engineered.

  2. 02

    Engineering & MEP Coordination

Mechanical, electrical and fire scopes coordinated against the consultant drawings and against each other, so clashes are resolved on paper.

  3. 03

    Equipment & System Planning

Plant, distribution and materials planned against the construction programme and the lead times that actually govern it.

  4. 04

    Installation & Execution

Site execution under one accountable contract, sequenced around the other trades working the same floor.

  5. 05

    Testing & Quality Control

Systems tested progressively as they are completed rather than all at once at the end, when there is no time left to fix anything.

  6. 06

    Commissioning

Systems brought into service and proven to perform as specified, in coordination with the client and the project consultant.

  7. 07

    Handover & Documentation

Documented handover recording what was installed, what was tested and what the results were.

05Standards awareness

Standards & engineering awareness

Execution is governed by the project-specific standards and the approved engineering documents issued for the facility. Our execution approach can be aligned with applicable data-center standards, client specifications and project-specific engineering requirements.

VPSTEC does not hold certification or accreditation from any of the bodies named below. These are the frameworks a data-center scope is commonly specified against, and to which our execution, inspection and documentation can be aligned when the project requires it.

  • Uptime Institute Tier concepts

Tier topology as a redundancy and concurrent-maintainability framework for the infrastructure we install.

  • TIA-942

Telecommunications infrastructure standard for data centers, including its mechanical and electrical provisions.

  • ISO/IEC 22237

International series covering data-centre facilities and infrastructure.

  • NBC and Indian electrical requirements

National Building Code and the statutory electrical requirements applicable to the facility.

  • Applicable NFPA standards

Fire protection provisions where a project specifies them alongside national requirements.

  • Applicable IS standards

Indian Standards governing materials, installation and testing.

  • OEM specifications

Equipment manufacturers’ installation, clearance and commissioning requirements.

  • Client engineering standards

Operator or developer standards where the client maintains their own.
